Barbara Dill

Barbara Dill

Barbara Dill, 66, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Barbara Sue was born in Atlantic, Iowa on December 26, 1956, to Rex and Neva (Gibson) Schneider.  She enjoyed growing up in Atlantic while sharing many memorable moments with her best friend, Leanne Dant.  One day when skating around Playtime Skating Rink, she set her sights on Randy Dill.  Barb and Randy were married on December 31 1974, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic.  Together they had three children, Tiffanie, Randy Jr. and Heather.

After graduating from Atlantic High School, Barb worked at the local Dairy Queen and Fief’s Restaurant.  She would eventually find her calling as a Certified Nurse Aide, caring for many in need at Atlantic Care Center, R.E.M. Iowa, and other health care organizations.  In her spare time, Barb enjoyed ghost hunting, diamond art, crocheting, knitting, crafting, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes or Kansas City Chiefs football teams, or just cooking a delicious meal for her family.  Her favorite time of year was Christmas, unless she received her birthday gifts on the same day.  Her birthday was December 26th, not December 25th!  Despite her occasional feisty “red headed” outbursts, she was relentlessly upbeat, caring and willing to do anything for anyone in need – especially her kids, grandkids and friends she worked with.

Barb felt that her greatest accomplishment in life was being able to love her husband, raise her three children and care for those were in need.  She exemplified a spirited life dedicated to caring for others in good times and bad.

Barb is survived by her husband, Randy Dill of Atlantic; daughters, Tiffanie (boyfriend, Robert) Fenton of Atlantic and Heather (Michael) Peel of Atlantic; son, Randy Jr. (Tammy) Dill of Atlantic; grandchildren, Kenneth Fenton, Cameryn Fenton, Randall Dill III, Zachary Dill, Scott Dill, Noah Dill, Ethan Peel, Chloe Peel, and Skylar Peel; sisters, Patricia Mills of Atlantic and Christine Moreno of Des Moines; brother, Kevin Schneider of Buffalo, Minnesota; many beloved nieces, nephews, friends; and her grand dog, Casey.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Rex and Neva; brother-in-law, Jesse Moreno; and nephew, Jessie Moreno Jr.

Barbara would have loved having her life celebrated on Friday the 13th!  Open visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., “Friday, the 13th” of October, at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic followed by a Celebration of Life Visitation with the family present from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  A meal will be served during the gathering beginning at 2:00 p.m.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
