MILDRED BAIR
Mildred E. Bair, 93, longtime resident of Atlantic, passed away on Saturday morning, May 5, 2012 at Cass County Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
Mildred Elizabeth Schuster was born the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Leslie) Schuster on April 2, 1919 in Shelby, Iowa. She grew up there where she attended school and graduated from Shelby.
Mildred "Mil" was married to Gerald "Jerry" E. Bair in Omaha, Nebraska on November 6, 1940. The couple enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends and family. They were blessed with two children and owned and managed Bair Firestone in Atlantic. She clerked at the store when it was located on Chestnut Street.
Mil has been a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. After Jerry died, she moved to Heritage House August of 2006. Her hobbies have included canning, card playing and craft work. She was faithfully active in the Za-Ga-Zig ladies group and bazaars. Mil will be remembered for her outgoing personality and kindness to everyone.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Klevos and husband Dan of Atlantic; her son, Jack Bair of Hamden, CT; grandchildren, Kinsey Bair of Cheshire, CT, Doug DeWitt of Phoenix, AZ, Dan Klevos of Phoenix, Chris Klevos of Phoenix, and Tim Klevos of Phoenix; and great grandchildren, Michael DeWitt of Phoenix and Dustin DeWitt of Phoenix.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in 2004 and grandson, Michael DeWitt in 1981.
There will be open visitation from 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday and 8:00 to 5:00 Tuesday at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm the evening of Tuesday, May 8. A private family committal service will take place at 10:30am at on Wednesday, May 9 at Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, Iowa. Dan Marsh, administrator of Heritage House, will officiate.
The family requests memorials may be designated to the Good Samaritan Fund of Heritage House.
