Donnis Mardelle Auerbach

Donnis Auerbach, age 77, of Atlantic, Iowa passed away unexpectedly at the Cass County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

She was born in Atlantic to John and Leona (Long) Brown August 27, 1935. During her youth, she grew up in rural Atlantic and later moved to Wiota in 1944. A few years later she returned to Atlantic in 1950. She graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1953 and was married to Wayne H. Auerbach on December 14th of that year.

Donnis was a supportive wife and mother and helped on the farm alongside her husband. She was also active in the community as a member of the D.O.E.S., Quilt Guild, Maple Dale Club, and Marne Red Hats. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing cards, and going to auctions. She will be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to family and friends.

Donnis is survived by her husband, Wayne Auerbach of Atlantic; a son, Russell Auerbach (Tammee) and their children, Bradley, Corey, and Aubrey of Virginia; a daughter, Tracy Auerbach and friend, Troy Cavin of Chariton, IA; two brothers, Harold "Pete" Brown (Corrine) of Atlantic and Duane Brown (Alice) of Atlantic; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Ainsley of OR; one brother-in-law, Lester Auerbach of Atlantic; one step sister-in-law, Cathy Edgar of Guthrie, OK; one step brother-in-law, Jerry (Sandy) Moore of Pittville, WI; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, LaVonne Harris; one nephew, Jeff Harris; her mother and father-in-law, Frank and Nellie Auerbach; and her step mother-in-law, Elizabeth Auerbach, all of Atlantic; two sisters-in-law, Iva Auerbach and Mildred Auerbach; and a step brother-in-law, Bob Edgar.

A funeral service for Donnis will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Guy Fisher officiating at the First Assembly of God Church in Atlantic. Following the funeral, friends and family are invited to enjoy coffee and dessert at the church. There will be no committal service. Family will be available to meet with friends and relatives Saturday, August 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home. Open visitation hours are Saturday, August 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - also at Roland Funeral Home.
