Thomas R. Arn

Thomas Richard Arn, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Oct 9, 2011 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 7 days.
Tom was born to Ralph Richard and Josephine Margaret Johnston Arn on Aug 2, 1943 in Atlantic. He attended school in Atlantic and graduated with the class of 1961. On April 18, 1964, Tom was united in marriage to Marcene Bailey in Rockwell City. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the United Church of Christ. Tom was employed at Scybert's Dairy, the Des Moines Register and Tribune, A & L Lab and at Walmart in the sporting goods department in Atlantic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with the grandchildren. Tom always looked forward to having coffee with his friends at Burger King in the mornings.
He is survived by his wife, Marcene Arn; a daughter, Sandy Frederiksen of Des Moines; grandchildren, Austin Frederiksen, Ashley Frederiksen and her fiancé, Nick Roen, all of Des Moines; sister Jo Ellen Arn of Atlantic; sister-in-law, Elaine Martens of Atlantic; nephew Rod (Shelly) Martens of Mechanicsburg, PA; niece, Tanya Martens of Des Moines, great nieces and nephew, Maryn, Grace and Ivan Martens of Mechanicsburg, PA; and many cousins and close friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his son Richard 'Rick' Arn; parents Ralph and Josephine Arn, father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Mabel Bailey; and brother-in-law, Larry Martens.
