Kent "Arch" Archibald

Kent “Arch” Archibald, 65, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at his home on October 13, 2018.

Arch was born to Robert and Virginia (Husmann) Archibald, on October 26, 1952, in Atlantic, IA.  Arch served in the United States Army, spending the last of his service in Germany.  While in the Army, Arch met and married his wife, Debbie, in 1973.  To this union three children were born Todd, Melissa, and Kyle. In later years he was blessed with nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Arch’s biggest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was very involved in his children’s lives, helping them with Boy Scouts and sports.  Arch carried on this tradition with his grandchildren, being active at their sporting events, choir concerts, other various school activities, and what he lived for was just the opportunity to spend time with them.  He was always taking a grandchild out fishing and bragging about who would catch the biggest fish.  Arch was the biggest jokester around, and was constantly playing pranks or telling a joke.  He loved helping family and friends with whatever they needed.  Arch was a member of the First United Methodist Church, being very active as a youth leader.

Arch is survived by his wife, Debbie; children and grandchildren, Todd (Kelli) Archibald and their children, Timothy, Allison, Nicholas, and Jared,  Melissa (Mark) Carey and their children, Rayne (Blake) Thomas, Kolton, Dawson, and Madison,  Kyle Archibald and his son, Jaxtin; great-granddaughter, Piper Thomas;  brother, Kevin (Bonnie) Archibald; sister, Korene (Rick) Harter; mother-in-law, Inez King; brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia Archibald; twin brother, Kirk Archibald; sister, Pamela Archibald; grandmothers, Kathryn Husmann and Helene Caito; grandfathers, Jack Archibald and Fritz Husmann, and father-in-law, William King.

Visitation with the family will he held prior to the service on Saturday at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic.
