Myrtle Mathilda Anderson
Myrtle Mathilda Anderson, 98, a longtime resident of Atlantic, died of a heart ailment Saturday, January 6, 2001, at Parkridge Care and Rehab Center in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.The daughter of Earl and Emma Anderson Odem, she was born June 10, 1902, in Atlantic. She was united in marriage to Walter W. Anderson, April 2, 1924 in Atlantic where they remained throughout their married life. Myrtle was employed by JCPenney for a number of years, retiring in 1967. In 1991 she moved to Des Moines to be near her daughter. She was an animal lover and she also enjoyed tending her flower garden, which she shared with everyone.Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Ardythe Hanson of Altoona; three grandchildren, Steven Hanson of Altoona, Gregory Hanson and his wife, Jean of Runnells, Iowa, and Holly Scott of Maplewood, Minnesota; seven great-grandchildren, Jake Hanson of Des Moines, Lacy Hanson of Altoona, Chelsea, Melissa and Joe Hanson of Runnells, Iowa and Bart and Joanna Scott of Maplewood, Minnesota.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walter.Roland Funeral Service -- Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationServices for Myrtle were held Wednesday, January 10, 2001, at 10:00 AM in the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Tom Ingham of the United Church of Christ officiating.Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa
