Melissa Sue Anderson, 17, of Lewis, passed away Tuesday morning, February 6, 2001, at her home.
The daughter of Duane Scott and Janis Sue Mundorf Anderson, Melissa was born August 24, 1983, in Atlantic. She grew up in Lewis and attended Atlantic Community Schools. Melissa was a member of the Lewis United Congregational Methodist Church. Melissa enjoyed music and especially liked children's singing. She loved riding mules, participated in the Special Olympics and attended Camp Courageous.
Melissa is survived by her parents, Scott and Dan Anderson of Lewis; one brother, Michael Anderson and his special friend, Christy Anderson; grandparents, Duane and Betty Jane Anderson and John and Marilyn Mundorf, all of Lewis; aunts and uncles, Tammy and Dean Orstad of Grant, Kim and Greg Palmer of Griswold, Jo and Byron Dean of Griswold, Julie and Scott Westphalen of Brayton, Jamie and Dick Juhl of Lewis, and Jeanene and Steve Christian of Omaha; paternal great-grandmothers, Betty Sanny of Lewis and Iva Anderson of Atlantic; and many cousins and relatives.
Services for Melissa were held Saturday, February 10, 2001, at 10:30 AM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Reverend Sharon Guffey-Lewis of the Lewis United Congregational Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery at Lewis, Iowa.
