Madalyn R. Anderson
Madalyn R. Anderson, 89, a resident of Heritage House in Atlantic and formerly a long time resident of Omaha, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2002, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The daughter of James and Rose Lillian (Hassenger) Ryle, Madalyn was born October 16, 1912 near Wagner, South Dakota. At approximately age twelve, her family moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she graduated from Sioux City Central in 1930. Madalyn worked at Swift and Company in Sioux City as a comptometer and telephone switch board operator. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Milstead Anderson on May 24, 1941 in Ames, Iowa. Following marriage, they lived in Sioux City for a couple of years before moving to St. Joseph, Missouri and they have lived in the Chicago and Omaha areas ever since. She moved to Atlantic in January of 2001. Madalyn was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.Surviving are two sons, Neil Anderson and wife, Sharon, of Columbus, Ohio and Brent Anderson and wife, Lois, of Berthoud, Colorado; two daughters, Dorleen Westering and husband, Dennis, of Atlantic and Jeanine Zeman and husband, Tom, of Boulder, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Todd and Devin Schollars, Laila, Lindsey, Jodie and Bennett Anderson and Tyler Zeman; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, John, Nathan and Nichole Schollars; one sister, Dorothy Bliss of Minneaspolis, MN; two nieces, Marcia Anderson of Lake Elmo, MN and Mary Anderson of San Pedro, California; and one brother-in-law, Earl Anderson of Amherst, MA.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin Anderson; and two sisters, Eileen Scott and Angie Authier.Funeral InformationA funeral mass will be held for Madalyn on Saturday, June 15, 2002, at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa at 8:30 A.M. with Msgr. Lawrence Beeson officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 A.M. at the Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
