Joseph Anderson Joseph Anderson, age 66, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Saturday, June 21, 2008, following an illness. Joseph was born on September 7, 1941 to Walter and Jannette (Guyette) Anderson in Springfield, MA. On September 7, 1958, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was discharged October 1, 1963. Joseph was united in marriage to Mary Ann Spencer on June 24, 1982. While married they lived in Massachusetts, California, Utah, Texas, Arizona, Minnesota, New Jersey and Florida before moving to Atlantic. Joseph was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. His favorite things were first of all his grandchildren but he also enjoyed history and politics. His interests also included cards, especially poker, and reading. His family and friends enjoyed his sense of humor, his love for others, his passion, intellect and leadership qualities. Joseph is survived by his wife Mary Ann; two sons, Scott Spencer and wife Lacey of Arizona and Scott Anderson and wife Tammie of South Carolina; two daughters, Deborah Rivers and husband Ron of Connecticut and Angela Anderson of Massachusetts; stepfather Homer Duquette and ten grandchildren, Scotty Anderson, Trey Taylor, Danniele Taylor, Gabriele Rodriguez, Joey Rodriguez, Austin Spencer, Daniel Spencer, Dillon Spencer, MaryJoe Spencer and Riley Spencer.He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jannette and stepdaughter, Frankie Spencer.Funeral InformationThere will be an open visitation for viewing and signing of Joseph's register book through Wednesday. Cards and florals may be delivered to Roland Funeral Home. Following the family viewing, cremation will take place.
