Obituary for Glenn Mark "Andy" Anderson

Glenn was born in Carlisle, Iowa and graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1933. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State College, graduating in 1939. During his college days, Glenn served in a horse-drawn artillery unit of the Iowa National Guard. Upon graduating, he joined Penick and Ford where he spent his entire professional career and rose to the position of Vice President of Marketing.
Glenn volunteered to serve his country in the United States Navy during World War II, from 1942-1945. He was trained in the new technology of Radar at the Navy's radar schools in Harvard and MIT. He then served in the Pacific Fleet on the flagships Tangier and Currituck. He survived multiple bombing attacks while on ship and a strafing attack on an airstrip while participating in the New Guinea, Admiralty, Halmahera and Philippine Island campaigns. He earned the Air Medal and was discharged as Lieutenant, Senior Grade.
He was known to his family as a beloved father, grandfather, uncle and father-in-law. Family and friends remember him as a passionate and skilled hunter, fisherman and dog handler. Glenn loved a good natured argument over sports and politics.
Glenn is survived by his daughter, Lori Bornaschella and husband Albert of Houston, Texas; son Mark and wife Jennifer of Norristown, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Katie and Sarah Anderson, A. J. Bornaschella and beloved niece Joye Winey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark George and Ruby Winters Anderson; wife Ione Anderson; brother Gerald Anderson; sister Gwendolyn Anderson Everhart; Duke and too many fine dogs to mention.
Glenn's family will donate his memorials to Amenity Hospice and Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for their compassionate support during Glenn's illness.
