Obituary for
Evelyn Louise Anderson
EVELYN LOUISE ANDERSON Evelyn Anderson, 95, former resident of rural Atlantic, Iowa, passed away in Saint Anthony"s Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa on Monday, August 18, 2008. Evelyn Louise Anderson was born the daughter of Emil and Louise (Lilienthal) Kluever in Audubon, Iowa on October 27, 1912. She grew up west of Brayton, Iowa and north of Atlantic. Evelyn was wed to Ronald Guy "Hunk&" Anderson on October 15, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa. They enjoyed farming and reared a family of four children north of Atlantic. Evelyn was very artistic and creative as evidenced through her handiwork - sewing pieced quilts by hand (each stitch a stitch of love) for her children, grand children and great grandchildren. She was known for her beautiful handiwork of embroidering applique, needle point and cut work. Her grandchildren were recipients of many stuffed animals and she was an avid reader. She always had a huge garden when she lived on the farm and loved sharing her flowers with neighbors and friends. She was a member of the Oakhill Lutheran Church, a member of the Helping Hand Club, Brayton Ladies Aid and the Atlantic Chapter of the Does. After the death of her husband, Evelyn moved to Carroll to a retirement home where she spent her time making pieced quilts for each of her 31 great grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and will always be remembered for her fried chicken, butter rolls and love. She will be greatly missed and leaves a huge void in the lives of her family. Evelyn is survived by her children, Ronald D. Anderson of Des Moines, Janice L. Black and husband Jim of Alta, Sharon J. Clark and husband Larry of Carroll, Sally E. Bacher and husband Larry of Melrose; ten grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; her brother Emil Kluever and wife Jan of Las Vegas, NV; her sister-in-law Izetta Bopp of Atlantic; a brother-in-law Gene Anderson and wife Norma of Austin, TX and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister Lorene Carbuhn and husband Al; four brothers Arnold, Vernon, Lester and wife Gwyn and Eldon, in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Jack Bopp and Phil Anderson and wife Genevieve.Funeral InformationThere will be an open visitation and the family will meet with friends on Thursday evening, August 21, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.
