Era Anderson, 86, longtime resident of Adair, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at her residence.
Era Thressa Anderson was born in Adair, Iowa, on July 12, 1926 to Sorn C. and Era M. (Turner) Andersen. She attended Adair Public Schools and graduated from there in 1944. She worked at Parrott Produce for a few years after high-school, and then worked as a local telephone operator until the operating system was automated, at which time she decided to retire.
Era loved to frequent yard sales, had an appreciation for antiques, and enjoyed making crafts. Her prized possessions, however, were pictures of her family. In her parents later years, Era worked diligently to care for them until their passing.
Her family and friends will remember her for her sweet smile and pleasant personality. She loved being out doors, walked everywhere she went, and took up a friendly conversation with everyone she met. Era never knew a stranger.
She is survived by her brother, Sorn Andersen from Cameron, Mo; two nieces, Cathy Burns and Laura Perry and her husband Bill; one nephew Carl Andersen; two great nieces; four great nephews; one great-great niece; and five great-great nephews. Era was preceded in death by her mother, father, and one brother, Wayne Andersen.
