Phyllis Parmley Andersen of Atlantic, Iowa, died peacefully at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa on June 4, 2006.Phyllis was born in Atlantic on March 16, 1932 to Glenn R. and Esther O. Parmley and grew up there. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1950.In 1951, Phyllis was married in Atlantic to Jackie A. Andersen of Elk Horn. She retired in 1992 as a telephone pioneer.Although she had lived in Nebraska and for a brief time in Macon, GA, Phyllis returned to Atlantic after retirement to spend the rest of her life in the town and state she loved. However, she was a dedicated Cornhusker fan who could be found every Saturday in the fall and winter in front of the television rooting for her team. In addition, she was also a fan of girls' basketball and enjoyed playing bingo at various places in the area. Phyllis' favorite TV programs were the oldies, especially the Andy Griffith show and classic movies. And from the time she was a young woman, Phyllis adored Elvis and his music. She also dearly loved her family, the rolling hills of Iowa, her beloved car, Cody, her faithful little truck, Coco Cola (drunk out of a can with a red straw), shoes and catalogue shopping. To her family"s relief, Phyllis never discovered the home shopping network!Phyllis is survived by her children, Rick Andersen, of Lutz, Florida, Ronda R.
