Marilyn Andersen

Marilyn Dawn Andersen, 78, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 11, 2002, at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs.The daughter of William S. and Mabel H. (Malcolm) Schneider, Marilyn was born July 29, 1924 southwest of Salem, South Dakota where she grew up and graduated from high school. She attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls and Drake University in Des Moines. Marilyn was united in marriage to Leonard Hartvig Andersen on August 18, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mrs. Andersen taught second grade at Washington Elementary School in Atlantic for over twenty-two years, retiring May 31, 1986. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Business Professional Women, BPO Does, and Retired Teacher's Association.Surviving are her husband, Leonard Andersen, of Atlantic; two sons, Larry Andersen of Kansas City, Missouri and Derald Andersen and his wife, Judy, of Atlantic; four grandchildren, Brett Andersen of Kansas City, Missouri, Brian Andersen and his wife, Megan, of LaVista, Nebraska, Daniel Andersen of Atlantic and Sarah Andersen of Atlantic.She was preceded in death by her parents.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Marilyn will be held at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa on Friday, November 15, 2002, at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Sue Hyndman officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
