Francis Andersen

Frances Irene Andersen, 87, a longtime resident of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 4th, at Heritage House.She was born September 9, 1913, near Dysart, Iowa to Louis Dengler and Emma (Schmidt) Dengler. She attended rural schools in South Dakota and graduated from high school in Hudson, Iowa, in 1930. Frances taught at a rural school one year and later cooked in the Atlantic High School cafeteria. She married Frank Andersen, April 30, 1938, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Following marriage they farmed west of Atlantic where a son, Donald Gene, was born March 24, 1941. The family moved to Atlantic in 1962.Frances is survived by her daughter in-law, Lucille Andersen-Dostal and her husband, John, of Carroll, Iowa; two grandsons, Kevin Lee and wife, Tanya, Andersen and her son, Max, of Independence, Iowa and Kiron Gene Andersen and fiancée, Mya Land, of Escondido, California; a sister, Evelyn Petersen, of Hudson, Iowa; a brother, Percy Dengler, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews.Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Frank; her son, Donald Gene; and infant grandson, Daryl Lynn; two brothers, Howard and Willis Dengler; and three sisters, Esther Brown, Irma Frank and Madeline Dewey.Funeral InformationServices for Frances were held Friday, July 6, 2001, at 2:00 PM in the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Ron Barnett from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic officiating.
