JUNE JEANICE ALLIBAND June Alliband, 92, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away quietly and peacefully at the Hospice Center of Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic on the evening of Saturday, November 20, 2010. June Jeanice Alliband was born June 17, 1918, the daughter of Walter Frederick Ulbrich and Frances Ann (Snouffer) Ulbrich in Atlantic, Iowa. She attended Jackson Elementary School in Atlantic and graduated with the Atlantic High School Class of 1936 as class valedictorian. She worked as a secretary and stenographer for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in the farm loan division where she met John Harold Good. They were married September 28, 1941. Their son Donald Lee was born March 20, 1944 and her husband John Harold was killed in action May 29, 1944 at Anzio Beachhead, Italy during WW II. June and her son lived at her parent"s home with her sister Maxine and she returned to work at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1946. On June 8, 1952, she married John E. Alliband and a son Robert was born November 18, 1954. In 1964, she returned to work in the insurance industry for Metropolitan and then the Ralph McCauley Insurance Agency as secretary and bookkeeper. June loved her friends at church and also was an avid bridge player in multiple clubs. Her bridge partners would say she played a mean game of bridge and loved to win. She was a member of Nishna Hills Golf Club, BPOE Does, the Heritage House Guild and the Cass County Hospital Auxiliary. June was a lifelong member of the Atlantic Methodist Church and active in United Methodist Women, Sarah Circle and she participated in the Merry Marrieds with her husband, John. June was given the Valiant Woman Award by the United Methodist women in 2008. She cherished her family by keeping precious yearly scrapbooks and knitting afghans for her sons and their families. June is survived by sons, Donald L. Good and wife Nancy of Ames, IA and Robert Alliband and wife Sharon of Rose Hill, KS; grandsons, Jonathan L. Good and wife Meredith and daughter MacKenzie Leigh of Milwaukee, WI, David L. Good of Minneapolis, MN and Brian L. Good of Ames, IA; granddaughter Amanda Alliband of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law Adrienne Ulbrich of Oregon City, OR; niece Deborah Huston and husband Jim of Milwaukee, OR; nephews, Jeffrey J. Ulbrich and wife Barbara of Mars, PA, Eric C. Ulbrich and wife Julie Ann of Hartsdale, NY; four grand nieces and one grand nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Harold Good; her second husband, John Ellsworth Alliband; a sister Maxine Frances Ulbrich: a brother Eugene J. Ulbrich; and a sister-in-law Lena Good.Funeral InformationJune's funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Atlantic at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 23 with Pastor Lanette Plambeck officiating. The committal service will be in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic. There will be open visitation from 8:00 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. on Monday, November 22.
